It so happed that almost throughout my lifetime I have been accompanied by people of action, goal-oriented and rather pragmatic people, even when the term 'pragmatic' did not officially exist yet. The trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks passed through my territory, which gave me the opportunity to establish close international trade contacts with powerful partner countries. Wise princes ruled over my lands, among whom was the first woman – Princess Olga.
She was the first to establish a differentiated taxation system in the Russian lands. Prince Vladimir, having baptized Kyivan Rus, strengthened the state and enlisted international respect and authority. Prince Yaroslav the Wise ensured the support of the European community, promoting his sons and daughters, became related to the rulers of powerful states, and thus received the nickname "Father-in-law of Europe". In the Middle Ages, I was a city, endowed with Magdeburg law. It gave me broad rights and freedoms to conduct handicraft and business affairs. In 1798, the first Kyiv contracts were signed at the city hall of the magistrate, which ushered in a new era of financial and business life for my residents, the South-Western Territory, and for the whole Empire. Then there was the sugar and construction boom, my expansion, enlargement and enrichment. The fact remains, I have had quite extensive experience.
And what can I offer a pragmatic tourist or businessman, who come to me on business? Since Soviet times, I have remembered the slogan "Young everywhere we road, …" and nowadays young entrepreneurs are actively moving innovation processes forward and it is inspiring. Once upon a time, it was the active and advanced young specialists who influenced the success of the phenomenon of the so-called Silicon Valley in California. I have also been developing my own innovative space, so to speak, a city in the city - UNIT.City. It is a space created to combine educational, cultural, medical, business, sports and entertainment facilities, to provide small and medium-sized innovative businesses with access to the necessary infrastructure and expertise in one area. Indeed, today it is my personal "Silicon conductor" into the world of modern international innovation.
Besides technology, many other things inspire me. I'm sure it's not news that I am passionate about joining the unjoinable. Along with IT-technologies, the fashion industry is rapidly developing. Kyivans eager to be fashionably dressed and wear authentic accent clothes, it's not just about embroidered shirts and blouses – vyshyvankas. In 2015, a project called "Vsi Svoi" went off to a good start. It projects objective was bringing together Ukrainian garment, footwear, accessories and jewellery, home decor, furniture and tableware manufacturers on one platform. That initiative was so successful that today there have already been opened two shops in Khreshchatyk Street. The first one sells clothing, footwear and accessories, while the other one sells dishes and home decor.
Besides in 12 Desiatynna Street, thematic exhibitions, attracting lots of visitors, have been regularly held. After visiting one or the second thematic market, take a walk along Andriivskyi Descent or take some other route that you can borrow in "I am a contemplator" section. When you get hungry, head for Sagaidachny Street in search of something delicious, in order to get inspired, look through "I am a gourmet" section.
In addition to various innovative initiatives, I have a great many comfortable business centres and room for cooperation for any business. I also host regional and international industrial exhibitions on a regular basis and field international missions of influential financial companies.
