Idol of Lada

Lada or Lado is the Slavic goddess of spring, marriage and love. Also, in tandem with Veles, she was the patroness of economic activity, in particular, spring ploughing and sowing. Before the establishment of Volodymyr’s Pantheon, Lada, and Mokosh-Demeter were the supreme goddesses of the previous Zbruch cult centre.

This is evidenced by the research of the oldest pagan monument, the four-faced Zbruch Idol, on which the image of the goddess Lada has survived. Mentions of her are often found in folklore, and also, according to the assumptions of scientists, her image could appear even on ceremonial towels.
