The Ukrainian capital is called the Mecca of a true theatre person, because there are dozens of temples of Melpomene here. Each of those has their own history and repertoire. Which theatres in Kyiv are worth paying attention to?

Taras Shevchenko National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine

The theatre has not been rebuilt for over 100 years, so anyone can buy a ticket to see the Nutcracker ballet from the box from which the emperors and kings of those times watched the performances. Original interpretations of the classical musical heritage and modern works, exceptional harmony of the orchestra and choir, talented soloists, bright and original performing traditions made it possible for the theatre to reach artistic heights and occupy an important place in the contemporary musical culture of Europe.
