Main Post Office building

Main Post Office building

The neoclassical building of the Main Post Office at the intersection of Khreshchatyk Street and Independence Square was erected in 1958. Earlier, the mansion of the apothecary and owner of the brickyard that produced the famous yellow Kyiv bricks, Johann-Sygismund Eismann, was located on this site. However, during the Second World War, it was destroyed, as well as the previous Palace of Communication, which stood nearby.

Ukrposhta (Ukrainian Post), the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine, and the State Department for Communications and Informatisation are housed in the modern building of the Main Post Office; the building is considered an architectural monument of local significance.
