Residential Building of Jeweler Brezgunov

Built in 1815 on an estate plot laid out after the great fire of 1811 in Podil, the house was erected on land granted to nobleman Zakhar Brezgunov, a jeweler and pupil of the renowned Kyiv master S. Strelbytskyi. The construction was commissioned by the Kyiv merchant F. Fedorov.

The residential building is brick, two-storeyed, partially with a basement, and painted. It has an L-shaped plan and was constructed according to a standard (“model”) design. In 1860, the house underwent reconstruction, during which its façades were decorated in the late Classicist style.

The building is a notable example of mid-19th-century residential architecture in Kyiv.
