The Ukrainian Small Drama Theater was founded in April 1989 at the request of the Union of Theater Workers of Ukraine. The theater is subordinated to the Main Department of Culture of Kyiv. The theater's goal is to revive Ukrainian culture, actively promote the native language, stage works of Ukrainian contemporary and classical drama, and perform first readings of dramatic works by Ukrainian authors. The theater works extensively with schoolchildren and students.
