Mavka: The Defender of the Forest, inspired by Ukrainian mythology, is winning the hearts of audiences in 70 countries.

The vast Ukrainian forests have long been hiding many secrets and mysteries. Here, among the centuries-old trees, unusual mythical creatures live, including Mavka, the Soul and the newly elected Guardian of the Forest. Her main vocation is to protect the Forest and its main treasure, the Source of Life, from any human encroachment. Lukash is an ordinary village boy with a rare musical talent, which he puts to good use by playing the flute. Lukash dreams of devoting his entire life to music. It is thanks to her that the incredible happens: Mavka and Lukash meet and fall in love. But at the same time, Mavka faces a difficult choice: love or her duty to the Forest.

The animated film is based on Lesya Ukrainka's fairy-tale drama The Forest Song and on images from Slavic myths and legends. However, the story is not an adaptation of Lesya Ukrainka's work!
The rights to screen the film in other countries have been acquired by a number of distribution companies. Mavka will be shown in cinemas around the world - in more than 70 countries and the list is constantly being updated with new territories.
