Yana Barinova: The first virtual exhibition of the Ivan Honchar Museum has opened in Kyiv

On Thursday, November 11, there was an online presentation and opening of a virtual 3D exhibition - "Ivan Gonchar. Collector". This was reported by the Department of Culture of the Kyiv City State Administration.

According to the organizers, the exhibition is dedicated to the expeditionary activities of Ivan Honchar and in four halls presents folk paintings, costumes, household items and other exhibits of the Ivan Honchar Museum. One of the uniqueness of the 3D exhibition is the first virtually reconstructed object in Ukraine - the handle of a Cossack saber of the XVIII century. The halls dedicated to Ivan Honchar's discovery of the Savior's sculpture and folk paintings "Kozak Mamai" became a special highlight.

"Quarantine restrictions have significantly affected the cultural life of the capital, in particular, the museum. Today it is important that our cultural institutions use the opportunities provided by modern technologies and adapt to new working conditions, "said the director of the Department of Culture of the Kyiv City State Administration Yana Barinova.

The curators were Olga Vashchevska, a leading artist of the Ivan Honchar Museum, and Tetiana Poshivailo, an honored cultural worker of Ukraine, ethnographer and art critic.

During the presentation, which was broadcast online on Facebook, Petro Honchar, the ideological inspirer of the exhibition and director of the Ivan Honchar Museum, said:

"The Ivan Honchar Museum is mastering new forms of communication, and they are incredible. As our museum is currently under reconstruction, such projects give us the opportunity to be actively present in the cultural space."
