Mykhajlo Hrushevsky Historical and Memorial Museum
In 1908, Mykhajlo Hrushevsky purchased the estate at 9 Pankivska Street. After the war, only an outbuilding survived, and in 1992, a memorial museum to the prominent Ukrainian figure was set up in 3 rooms. However, it was opened only in 2006 in honor of the 140th anniversary of Hrushevsky's birth. Now it is a branch of the Kyiv History Museum. Thanks to the preserved photographs, it was possible to recreate the interiors of the scientist's office, living room, and daughter's room, where visitors can see authentic furniture, household items, personal documents, manuscripts, letters, the most complete collection of Hrushevsky's works and editions edited by him in Ukraine; books from the family library, etc. In addition, the museum has a five-thousand-piece collection of photographic documents with the oldest photographs dating back to 1876. It also hosts exhibitions of famous Ukrainian artists, project presentations, conferences, and seminars. In summer, guests gather on the terrace for coffee and philosophical conversations about art. Other thematic interactions of the museum include the Hrushevsky Garden Party festival, a walk through the Botanical Garden “Romantic Dates with Mykhajlo Hrushevsky,” theatrical tours and performances, hiking routes, guided tours, and more.
