Mariinskyi palace and Mariinskyi park

The Mariinskyi Palace serves as the official ceremonial residence of the President of Ukraine, hosting diplomatic receptions and solemn events of the highest caliber. This remarkable monument of the Baroque era was constructed in 1752, designed by the renowned Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli. The main two-story building is elegantly connected on both sides by single-story wings, linked by semicircular corridors.

The facades are adorned with columns, sculptures, and vases, creating an exquisite architectural ensemble that epitomizes the era. A comprehensive restoration of the historical building, which took over a decade, was completed at the beginning of 2018. This renovation involved reinforcing the foundations, replacing all utility systems, restoring the facades, and meticulously recreating the interior, along with landscaping the adjacent territory.

Inside, marble stairs connect the first and second floors, while the snow-white volumetric stucco and gilding on the walls showcase the palace's opulence. The rooms are named to reflect their color schemes: the White Hall, Green Living Room, and Blue Living Room, alongside the Baroque Hall, which has been recreated in Rastrelli's style. The palace is elegantly furnished with exquisite furniture, chandeliers, paintings, and wall art, complemented by a patterned floor made from precious wood.

Directly opposite the palace lies Mariinskyi Park, a national monument of garden and park art. Covering an area of 8.9 hectares, the park is designed in a landscape style, featuring well-equipped recreation areas and observation platforms offering stunning views of the Dnipro River and the left bank of Kyiv. The park is home to numerous monuments and sculptures and boasts a large cast-iron fountain installed in 1900. Adjacent to the park is the Bridge of Lovers, a beloved spot for newlyweds who attach locks to symbolize the strength of their love.
