About the place
The idea to perpetuate the memory of heroic Kyivite participants of the ATO/JFO arose back in 2018. Soon, a competition for the monument project was announced. The work of architect Natalia Abankova won. On the anniversary of Ilovaisk tragedy, on August, 29, 2021, the monument was unveiled at the intersection of Hrushevskoho Street and Petrivska Alley. The sculptural composition is made of granite and metal. Special lighting gives it a special atmosphere in the evening. By the way, exactly one year before the unveiling of the monument, the Mayor Vitali Klitschko laid a commemorative capsule at that place.
