The mosaic “Land and People”

The mosaic “Land and People” (1978–1980, created by artists Stepan Kyrychenko, Iryna Kyrychenko, and Roman Kyrychenko) adorns the façade of the V.P. Kukhar Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The panel features a large, colorful flower with two female figures at its center — personifications of science and nature. The work stands out with its striking color accents, making the building a prominent feature in the architectural landscape and naturally drawing attention. In some sources, this monumental work by the Kyrychenko family is mistakenly referred to as “Man and Nature.”
The V.P. Kukhar Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry of the NAS of Ukraine and the building’s decorative design have been granted the status of a newly identified cultural heritage site (history, art).
