About the place

This is one of the most famous houses in Kyiv, because the family of the talented writer, Mykhail Bulgakov, lived there from 1906 to 1922. There he spent his childhood, youth, first medical practices, and wrote his first works... It was the house on Andriivskyi Descent that was the focus of the plot of the famous White Guard.

The museum’s collection consists of 47 personal items of Bulgakov (notably manuscripts); several hundred books/journals/letters/handbills/theatre tickets of his family, a total of some 400 memorabilia. It also includes approximately 1,000 personal belongings of the writer’s favourite sister, Nadia Zemska.

One can not only have an excursion in the museum, but also visit numerous events according to traditions of the Bulgakov family — Bulgakov’s birthday (15 May), his name day (21 November), Children’s Christmas, Easter with the reconstructed Easter table, musical and poetic evenings (13th day of each month) or rest on a porch every day.
