About the place
This magnificent museum complex consists of 77 architectural monuments. Among them are monastic buildings of the 18th century, which, together with the architectural ensemble of St. Sophia, are the sites in the UNESCO List.
The Sophia of Kyiv’s fund includes over 80,000 items. Those are items of decorative and applied art, archaeological collections, architectural designs, etc.
The sanctuary includes 6 museums: St. Sophia Cathedral Museum, The Metropolitan’s Residence, St. Cyril’s Church, Golden Gate, St. Andrew’s Church and Sudak Fortress.
There are 4 permanent exhibitions: “The Metropolitan’s Residence Exposition”, “Mosaics and frescoes of the 12th century St. Michael’s Golden Domed Cathedral”, “The art of icon painting, the spiritual heritage of the people”, “Temple. City. State. The first brick Christian churches of Kyiv”.
Special guided tours and quests are provided for children in Sophia of Kyiv.
