"Muromets" Park is a sprawling recreational area covering approximately 220 hectares in the northern part of Kyiv, located within the Chortoryi tract on the islands of Muromets and Trukhaniv. Established in 1972, the park was long known to locals as the People's Friendship Park. It received its current name in 2018, coinciding with the installation of a monument to the legendary Ilya Muromets. According to legend, this island once served as a heroic outpost safeguarding the city, where the valiant hero received a fatal chest wound. It is said that when visiting the island for the first time, you should wade into the river up to your chest and ask Ilya for strength, and you’ll be granted at least a year of good health.
The park is organized into four distinct zones: a beach area, a children's space, a sports sector, and a memorial quarter. The memorial area features a garden with 15 types of plants, each symbolizing friendly nations. The main sports section includes the Health Alley and X-Park, which accommodates over 200 sports, including wakeboarding and surfing. Exploring the park by bicycle is highly recommended, with rentals available on-site. Within the park, you'll find hotels, beaches, spa centers, a yacht club, a baseball field, a disc golf course, restaurants, and various entertainment facilities.
