The concept of a bridge connecting Podil with the left-bank neighborhoods of Raiduzhny and Voskresenka dates back to the 1980s. Construction officially began in 2003, a decade after the renowned Kyiv engineer Georgy Fuks approved the project. However, it remains unfinished to this day.

Once completed, this complex of bridge structures will stretch over 7.5 kilometers, making it the largest in Kyiv. The project includes a main bridge over the Dnipro, along with additional spans over Kyiv Harbor, Desenka, and Raiduzhne Lake. It will also feature transport overpasses on Trukhaniv Island and in the Horbachikha tract.

The roadway will consist of six lanes—three in each direction—capable of handling a traffic flow of 59,000 vehicles daily. Furthermore, plans are in place to establish three stations for the new Podilsko-Vyhurivska metro line: "Sudnobudivna (“Shipbuilding”)," "Trukhaniv Island," and "Desenka Bay ."

The arch-suspended span of the bridge, measuring 344 meters, is currently the largest of its kind in Europe. Despite being named the "bridge of generations" due to the lengthy construction period, it was partially opened on December 1, 2023, for special vehicles, emergency service units, and city buses.
