Prorizna Street is a historic path that once traced the earthen rampart of Ancient Kyiv's fortifications. This street was formed when a route was cut through to connect the Golden Gate with Khreshchatyk.
At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries, several notable historical monuments were established here, including the Kyivmetrobud building, the beautiful Syrotkin apartment building, and the “Molodyi” (Young) Theater.
Prorizna Street is also home to various monuments honoring influential figures, such as Panikovsky, the beloved character from the novel "The Golden Calf"; Magtymguly Pyragy, the renowned Turkmen poet and thinker; and Les Kurbas, a prominent Ukrainian artist and key figure of the “Executed Renaissance” period in Ukrainian history.
In its vibrant past, this street hosted the first illusions and cinematographs in Kyiv, adding to its rich cultural legacy.
