Rayduzhne Lake

Rayduzhne Lake, a scenic natural body of water, serves as the boundary between the Rayduzhnyi residential area and the Rusanivski Gardens. Though of natural origin, the lake was expanded through excavation, with the soil used for construction purposes. Today, it stretches 1.4 km in length, with an average width of 100 meters, covering an area of 1.8 hectares and reaching a maximum depth of 7 meters. A distinctive feature of the lake is its narrow section, crossed by a pedestrian bridge. In 2017, the surrounding areas were designated as a local landscape reserve.

Rayduzhne has become a popular recreation spot in Kyiv, boasting two beaches—one in the southern part and another near the center of the lake. A major reconstruction transformed the area, adding new walking paths, gazebos, drinking fountains, staircases, ramps, and an entrance with granite cladding. Three playgrounds were renovated, with one covered in rubber. Additional amenities include table tennis tables, new benches, trash bins, and sports areas. There's also a boat station near the lake.

Due to its heavy use as a recreation area, efforts were made to improve the lake's ecological condition. Like Lake Telbin, Rayduzhne now benefits from an aeration system, with eight aerators installed to maintain water quality.

The lake lies along the route of the Podilsko-Voskresenskyi bridge, which is currently under active construction. Plans have been proposed to build an arched bridge over the lake to accommodate a future metro line. However, environmentalists and locals oppose the project, concerned it would diminish the lake's recreational appeal.
