The Rusaniv Canal is an artificial waterway on the Dnipro River that completely encircles Rusanivka from the south, north, and west. Geyser fountains started operating in the southern part of the canal in 1976, with water streams reaching heights of over 30 meters. This stunning combination of the canal, fountains, and surrounding greenery quickly became a popular attraction for city residents.
However, due to a lack of funds for maintenance, the canal began to overgrow, the fountains diminished in performance, and eventually, they were turned off completely. The last time they operated was in 2010, with jet heights only reaching 2 to 4 meters.
It wasn't until May 2016 that four completely renovated light and music fountains were reopened on the Rusaniv Canal. By 2017, their number had increased to twelve. The design of the water jets became much more dynamic, featuring a main water flow that shoots up to 35 meters, surrounded by a ring of smaller jets illuminated in various colors.
Thanks to modern technology, the power of the water pumps is now synchronized with musical accompaniment, creating a mesmerizing spectacle as the fountains dance to the music. This exciting show creates a unique and cozy atmosphere, drawing large crowds, especially in the evenings when the lights are on.
In peacetime, the Rusaniv fountains have traditionally been turned on in May for Kyiv Day, operating on a schedule until the beginning of October.
