The history of the Syrets Arboretum begins in the late 19th century, when Karl Meyer laid out a demonstration park for decorative crops at the flower farm. In 1949, dendrologist Mykola Ptitsyn continued the development of the territory. There is even a memorial stone dedicated to Soviet botanists installed on one of the trails. In 1980, the park was reconstructed. Today, the Syrets Arboretum is a monument of garden art of national significance. Over 1,150 taxa from North America, China, Japan, and the Far East grow here on an area of 6.5 hectares. Among them are over 300 species of trees and 600 species of succulents planted in greenhouses. There are also a number of red book plants in the park’s floral collection.
