The Trukhaniv Island is one of the oldest Dnieper islands, and the largest one in Kyiv. In the early 20th century, there was a settlement of several thousand people at that place, destroyed in the times of the Soviet Union. The island was turned into a recreation area.
There are several beaches there, with boat rentals, tennis courts, and the South Bank of Kyiv summer club. A bicycle path runs through the island where capital residents ride bicycles, rollers, longboards or run. During the reconstruction of the Trukhaniv Island in 2020, the entrance space with recreation areas and lighting was opened.
