From 1961 to 1974, an artificial sand island was developed in Rusanivka, featuring multi-section 9- and 16-story residential buildings. As a result, Rusanivka became one of the first massifs in the world built entirely on alluvial soils. Since then, only one new high-rise building has been added, which appeared in 2003.
During the planning process, zoning methods were implemented to minimize road noise and ensure convenient navigation between the yards. This approach was successful, as the neighborhoods offer comfort and tranquility.
A highlight of the district is the picturesque Rusaniv embankment, where a park provides stunning views of the slopes of Kyiv's right bank. The entire massif feels more like a park than a residential area, with green spaces and the canal making up 41% of the total area. Alongside comprehensive social infrastructure, city planners added the "Slavutych" hotel, the "Krakow" cinema, and adorned the area with vibrant mosaics.
From the very beginning, Rusanivka has been regarded as one of the most comfortable housing estates in Kyiv. Its beauty and comfort quickly caught the attention of notable figures in science, culture, and the arts. Renowned celebrities have lived in the massif over the years, including Oleksiy Gorbunov and Milla Jovovich, who spent her childhood there with her mother. Also, the famous actor and film director Leonid Bykov lived not far from Rusanivka. He enjoyed fishing on the Rusaniv canal.
