St. Andrew's Church

This monument of architecture and monumental painting of the 18th century of world importance is located on the mountain of the same name above the Andriyivskyi Descent. The site for the construction of the church was consecrated in 1744. The church was built in 1747–1762 in the Baroque style in honor of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called. It is one of two works by the famous architect F. B. Rastrelli in Kyiv. The features of the building are its location on a two-story stylobate, rich decoration, compactness, and the absence of choirs and bells. This is the only fully preserved interior of a sacred building in the world, created according to Rastrelli's design.
Episodes from the film "Following Two Hares" were filmed on the steps of this church, so there is a monument to Pronia Prokopovna and Svyrid Golokhvastov nearby. There is an observation deck around the temple, offering an incredible panorama of the city.
