Zhovten Cinema is the oldest operating cinema in Kyiv, having started its work in 1931. Until 1991, it operated under the name Ninth State Cinema, closed in the 90s and resumed its work only in 2000. In 2014, the cinema ceased to operate due to a fire and was later restored.
Nowadays, 6 halls of the cinema show mass and art house films. It hosts film premieres, screenings of films in their original language, and a number of festivals: ‘Molodist, Docudays, short film festivals, international film festivals, etc.
