The mosaic “Environmental Protection” (“Nature Conservation”)

The mosaic “Environmental Protection” (“Nature Conservation”), created by the prominent Ukrainian monumental artist Mykola Storozhenko between 1975 and 1977, conveys — through images of people, animals, birds, and marine life — a theme that remains highly relevant today: the importance of caring for nature. The artist united the three elements — earth, water, and air — as symbols of the foundations of the world. The technique combines mosaic with relief.
The mosaic “Environmental Protection” (“Nature Conservation”) has been granted the status of a newly identified cultural heritage site (monumental art).
