The buildings at 24 and 28 Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard are adorned with 11 mosaics created by the renowned artist couple Anatolii Haidamaka and Larysa Mishchenko between 1967 and 1973, forming a series titled “Man and Nature.” Three of them are located on building No. 28 and are combined into the triptych “The Birth and Death of the Forest.” The theme of the triptych is connected to a furniture store that operated in this building in the second half of the 20th century. The third panel of the triptych, “Forest Felling,” symbolizes the stages of the life and death of trees. This work has suffered partial damage, as an entrance was cut through the wall for the “Fora” store.
The mosaic ensemble “Man and Nature,” which includes the monumental work “Forest Felling,” has been granted the status of a newly identified cultural heritage site (monumental art).
