The Mansion of Baron Steingel is situated in the rear part of the estate, with its main façade facing Vorovskogo Street. The building is two storeys high, brick-built, rectangular in plan, and includes a basement, a corner tower, a porch, a carriage entrance, and a terrace.
The façade decoration incorporates elements of the English Gothic style: characteristic tracery of window and door openings, sandriks, pinnacles, crenellated wall finishes, Gothic-style stone balcony railings, a mascaron in the form of a lion’s head, and a sculptural console. The façade composition is asymmetrical, with a decorative tower crowning the south-western corner. The interiors are decorated in the Neo-Renaissance style, reflecting the eclectic artistic tendencies of the late 19th century.
The mansion stands on the grounds of a 19th-century estate that was once home to V. M. Gakkebush, R. V. and F. R. Steingel, and also associated with the professional activity of physicians F. R. Bohdanov, M. M. Lapynskyi, and B. M. Mankivskyi.
The Steingel Mansion remains a fine example of Kyiv’s late-19th-century residential architecture, distinguished by its picturesque Gothic Revival exterior and rich Neo-Renaissance interiors, exemplifying the artistic diversity of historic urban estates.
