Syretskyi Arboretum

Syretskyi Arboretum

At the end of the 19th century, a demonstrative park of decorative crops for flower farming was laid on this site. It became the basis for the modern arboretum whose flora currently includes over 900 taxa of plants, most of which originate from North America, China, Japan, and the Far East. More than 600 species of cacti and succulents grow in the greenhouse complex.

Collections of rare, minor and endangered plant species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine have been created on seven hectares of the park. In addition, several specimens of trees planted back in the 19th century have survived. Particularly valuable are such species as ginkgo biloba, tulip tree, magnolia kobus, dawn redwood, yew, numerous forms of northern white-cedar, Swiss pine, Austrian oak, etc.
