Golden Gate Square

A small square with an area of only half a hectare was laid out in the second half of the 19th century around the monument of the same name. At the end of the century, it was decorated with a cast-iron fountain, which was cast at the famous Theremin factory according to the Parisian model. In the post-war period, the capital's chess players gathered here for several years, and with the opening of the cafe, locals and tourists often relax.

Despite its small area, you can see many monuments in the square, the most famous of which are the sculpture of Yaroslav the Wise, holding a model of St. Sophia Cathedral, and the bronze cat Panteleimon. If you hold its tail, you can make a wish. There is also another cat here - wooden and made of disposable forks by the contemporary sculptor Konstantin Skrytutsky.

In 1972, the Zolotovoritsky Square was recognized as a natural monument of local importance.
