National Museum of History of Ukraine in the Second World War

The Memorial complex includes a museum exposition dedicated to Ukrainian dimension of the Second World War. It is also a venue for solemn commemorative events devoted to modern defenders of Ukraine.

Motherland Memorial erected in 1981 is in the heart of the Memorial. It consists of a 40-metre pedestal and a 62-metre tall figure of a woman holding a sword and a shield in her hands. Its total height is 102 metres, weight is 540 tons. It’s a unique engineered sculpture listed among TOP 10 tallest monuments in Europe.

In this time of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation, the Museum is focused on covering the events of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war. While having a tour around the memorial complex, now with an area of 11 ha, you can visit:

  • Exhibition “Ukraine — Crucifixion” dedicated to the Russian-Ukrainian war. Exhibition Centre
  • Multimedia death toll of children killed in the war. The Pechersk Fortress’s Upper Moscow Gate of the 18th century.
  • Exhibition hall in the Lower Moscow Gate
  • Exhibition of the military equipment and armaments of the 20th century.
