Zolotovoritskyi Square Park

Zolotovoritskyi Square Park

A small square park with an area of only half a hectare was laid in the second half of the 19th century around the landmark of the same name. At the end of the century, it was decorated with a cast-iron fountain, which was cast at the famous Termen’s Factory based on the Parisian model. In the post-war period, the capital’s chess players had gathered here for several years, and with the opening of a café, locals and tourists often relax here.

Despite the small area, you can see a lot of monuments in the square, the most famous of which are the sculpture of Yaroslav the Wise holding a model of St. Sophia Cathedral, and the bronze cat Panteleimon. If you hold it by the tail, you can make a wish. There is also another cat here, one on a tree, made of disposable forks by the modern sculptor Kostiantyn Skrytutskyi.

In 1972, Zolotovoritskyi Square Park was recognised as a natural monument of local significance.
